ROLLER DERBY PORTO
1st Roller Derby League in Portugal
Roller Derby Porto is an all-female, entirely skater-operated roller derby league dedicated to the development and promotion of the amateur sport of roller derby. The league is made up by independent and free spirit female athletes committed to develop leadership and sportsmanlike skills and to promote inclusiveness both on and off the track.

Roller Derby Porto is the 1st League of Roller Derby in Portugal. Although the league started recruiting in September 2011, it was only in January of the following year that we began our roller derby trainings and held our first home bout in December 2012.

Since its constitution and as a non-profit sports league, RDP has always invested in training and preparing their athletes for competition, participating and organizing bootcamps, where players from across the country and even from neighbouring countries come together to learn and evolve, and promoting games with recognized and well established European teams, contributing to the development of roller derby in Portugal and its recognition by the Portuguese public.

Roller Derby Porto has around 20 athletes, spread over three levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. The growth of the team and the evolution of the players led to it being recently created a team B, Porto Derby Beasts, who train alongside the A team, Porto Derby Dragons.

While small in size, we have always had and continue to have big goals and, with our work, we intend to become a major competitor in this passionate sport and continue to thrive in the word's engaging roller derby community.
The skaters of RDP aim to compete on a national and international level as a WFTDA (Women's Flat Track Derby Association) official member league. In July 2016, RDP has been accepted into the WFTDA Apprentice Program.
